There’s few phrases that I hate more than “Hip Hop is dead”, specially when we have entire organizations such as TeamBackPack making sure it’s alive and well. If you’re a hip hop fan, there’s no doubt that you’ve seen some of their world renowned cypher videos online, with a few of them getting over 2 million views on YouTube. TeamBackPack has received praise and acclaim for their work from established hip hop acts such as Joell Ortiz, Hopsin, Royce da 5’9″ and the dearly departed Phife Dawg.

TeamBackPack’s whole demeanor is based on spreading the full spectrum and positive aspects of hip hop culture worldwide, primarily through their viral cypher series. This group of talented and passionate individuals have used their website and social media following as a platform to travel the globe looking for the best up and coming hip hop artists, and giving them the exposure they need to flourish in today’s over-saturated hip hop market. The Man Guide recently had a sit down with some of their core members to briefly discuss their movement. If you’re not up on their brand yet, check the video below and get familiar.

TeamBackPack’s next major event will be Mission Underground New York, June 16-18th, in which they will once again look for hidden gems in underground hip hop for an upcoming cypher. If you’re interested in attending or participating make sure to check out their website for details.
