Marvel’s stranglehold on the big screen and small screen is far from other. The comic book giant just teased it’s fans and previewed 3 brand new shows at San Diego Comic-Con. These long awaited upcoming shows continue Netflix & Marvel’s MCU legacy which have resulted in the extremely successful Daredevil and Jessica Jones shows.

Check out the 3 new teasers below and tell us what you think.

Luke Cage (September 30th, 2016)

It’s only a few months away and the show I’m most excited about is Luke Cage, and this preview shows why. Luke Cage was introduced as a secondary character in Jessica Jones and now he gets a full season to show why he’s one of the baddest Marvel characters ever. Without giving away any of the plot, the action packed trailer stars Mike Colter as Cage and briefly shows Mahershala Ali (House Of Cards) who will play Cottonmouth. Other Marvel characters that have been announced include Diamondback, Maria Dillard, and Misty Knight, who will fit right at home in Netflix’s gritty MCU. And if that wasn’t enough, the score will be handled by Adrian Younge (Black Dynamite, produced for Ghostface Killah) and Ali Shaheed-Muhammad (A Tribe Called Quest).

Marvel’s official synopsis for Luke Cage is as follows:

“After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive who attempts to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But soon he is pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.”

Iron Fist (TBA, 2017)

The second trailer reveals a quick first look at Finn Jones (Game of Thrones) as Danny Rand AKA Iron Fist. This short video shows flashes of Rand’s childhood, his arrival to the mystical city of K’un Lun, and his return to New York City. It will be interesting to see if they remain faithful to all the mystical elements that Iron Fist is known for, in contrast to the gritty street level action that the other Netflix shows have been based on so far. Little else is known besides the fact that Scott Buck is the showrunner; he’s previously executive produced Six Feet Under, Rome and Dexter.

The Defenders (TBA)

This is what it was all leading up to from the beginning. Just like marvel did with the silver screen, they introduced all the main characters in their individual stories before combining them for one gargantuan team up. The Defenders is a long standing Marvel team up who’s members have varied through out the years. Netflix’s version of The Defenders is composed of Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. No word on the release date, or how all these characters will unite but it’s a great move to get the fans hyped up long in advance.
